+ Photos: Long Bien Bridge, Hanoi

Long Bien Cantilever Bridge across the Red River in Hanoi, Vietnam was originally called Doumer (after Paul Doumer, Governor General of Indochina). It was the first steel bridge across the Red River that connected two parts of Hanoi.

Designed by: Gustave Eiffel, Finished by: Daydé & Pillé, 1902.
Although it was badly bombed during the Vietnam War because of its critical function, about half of the bridge still keeps its original shape today.
